Phase VIII (2021-2024) NCAT Test Track Findings: Implementation
NCAT released their 3 year report for the entire test track, which included many sections of pavement. There is a link to the full report below. You should note that NCAT tested ECR in section N9 for the 2021 cycle as a comparison to polymer in the N9 section for the 2018 cycle. There were some other changes in the mix design that are included in the report for your review.
As you will note, the NCAT report concluded “…the field performance results showed that the 2021 N9 mix outperformed the N9 mix from the previous cycle demonstrating that the dry rubber additive delayed the appearance of reflective cracking.”
This recent, accelerated testing demonstrates what ECR users in the field have observed for years: ECR provides comparable performance to polymer modified mixes! But we already knew that as we have over 8+ million mix tons of ECR modified mixes on the ground. Did you also know that Dry Process ECR eliminates the challenges of storing and using wet process rubber? And it does so in a more cost effective approach!
When you combined NCAT’s study, our significant field success and the advantages over wet process rubber, it’s no wonder producers are increasingly adopting the Dry Process ECR rubber technology. So, why haven’t you adopted Dry Process ECR yet?
