Michigan Rubber Asphalt Project

Asphalt Plus, LLC conducted a trial rubber asphalt project in Michigan using the Dry Process with Elastiko Engineered Rubber Asphalt. Same as the other successful projects, we recorded the process to show just how the Dry Process of Rubberized Asphalt is as simple as it comes. In the video, we demonstrate the beginning, middle and end of the process. You will see here in this short video that this is a simple and effective process with basic procedures.

This section is a residential street with light traffic and a median dividing East and West sides of the street.  Roads we laid in 2016 and still look in prime condition.  There was no rutting or cracking visible. The road is in direct sunlight with minimal shading from bordering trees and is used as an access road to an apartment complex. The roads were dry mix process at a 12.5 mm mix with 4.9% binder.

The pavement application was a three layer process.  It was laid in the middle of summer with high temperatures. The trucks took around 45 minutes to make it on site and laid the asphalt between 265 and 275 degrees.

The Rubber helps with:

  • Rutting resistancerubber
  • Cracking resistance
  • Long road life cycle
  • Durability in roads
  • Reduces sound
  • Serves as a way to recycle tires
  • Reduces cost
  • Less road maintenance

Asphalt Plus LLC produces an engineered crumb rubber additive for asphalt application. Our engineered rubber has endured a wide range of harsh climate & road use conditions. In spite of those tough situations, Asphalt Plus has performed impeccably well with nearly 3 million tons of placed Dry Mix Asphalt.
